Episode Notes

What could a college experience look like with COVID-19 and how are universities preparing to keep students safe this fall? Hosts Ben Weinberg and Shawn Cable spoke with Dr. Doug Garrard, the Senior Associate Dean of Students at the University of Texas, to find out. Doug has helped make the decisions that dictate how campus life will look to keep students safe returning in the Fall. From his first job out of college as a Hall Director at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, to receiving his Masters and Doctorate of Education degree from UT Austin in Higher Education, Doug has seen many aspects of campus life. If you’ve got questions about how COVID-19 could impact your college experience, he is the guy you’d wanna ask. Doug is also a renaissance brother of our Texas Alpha chapter at UT - Austin and serves as their faculty fellow, so he understands how this all impacts a local SigEp chapter. We’ll learn from Doug how his university is preparing to keep students safe, how different doesn’t have to mean worse when it comes to getting the most out of your college experience and why SigEp is important on your campus, now more than ever.
